Khensani Mabaso, professionally known as DJ Kent, was born in Pimville, Soweto, South Africa. He began mixing and producing music at a young age, quickly establishing himself as a standout talent in South Africa’s house music scene. Early in his career, he was part of Kentphonik, a production collective that helped shape the sound of early 2000s South African house with hits like “Uwrongo” and “Masingita.”

In 2008, Kent released his debut solo album, Mixing Business with Pleasure Reloaded, earning him the South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Urban Dance Album. Over the years, he has consistently evolved, embracing afro-tech, amapiano, and deep-house influences, with his 2022 single Horns in the Sun showcasing his experimental approach and crossover appeal.
