In addition to learning to walk again after being paralysed, he went on to accomplish his childhood dream of racing his motorbike in the Dakar Rally, the toughest, most gruelling off-road race in the world.

Lying paralysed in the hospital, Joey made the difficult decision to not let the situation define him or his future. The next 10 years would be filled with devastating setbacks and personal triumphs that would forge a new mindset that carried him to eventually stand on the start line of the Dakar Rally. A race that would test him far beyond what even he could have imagined.
Since racing the Dakar Joey has continued to live his passion for adventure. He’s raced 1000’s of kilometres through the deserts of North Africa and ridden in over 32 countries on 6 continents.
