CODA Africa brings together some of South Africa's most distinctive live performance talent in an ensemble built around contrast — the elegance of electric strings, the power of live vocals and saxophone, and the energy of a DJ. Fronted by vocalist Zami Mdingi, the group features electric violinist Renate Riedemann, electric cellist Carol Thorns, saxophonist Judy Brown and DJ LuvChild.

The result is a fresh and highly adaptable sound that moves effortlessly between classically inspired melodies, Afro-electro, electro-swing, dubstep, reggae, hip hop and contemporary dance influences. This musical versatility allows CODA to create anything from an atmospheric, sophisticated opening experience to an energetic headline performance that gets audiences moving.

CODA's album Disclosure earned two All Africa Music Awards nominations, including Most Promising Artiste in Africa and Best African-Electro Act, alongside established acts such as Mi Casa and Goldfish. Their music has also received radio and television exposure in South Africa, further establishing the group's distinctive place within the country's contemporary fusion scene.

From major concerts and festivals to fashion events, sporting occasions, launches, government functions and corporate celebrations, CODA Africa has performed for diverse audiences at high-profile events including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Cape Town and Durban Fashion Week, J&B Met, Durban July, Miss South Africa and the Nederburg Concert Series.

For event organisers looking for something beyond a conventional live band, CODA Africa offers a visually striking and musically adventurous experience — combining world-class musicianship, contemporary production and infectious live energy in one distinctive South African performance.
