Prof. Alistair Mokoena is one of Africa’s most respected voices in business, digital transformation, and leadership, with over 28 years of experience across industries including FMCG, financial services, telecommunications, media, advertising, and technology.
He currently serves as Executive Dean of the Johannesburg Business School and is an Associate Professor at the North-West University Business School. Holding both a PhD and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), alongside an MBA and LLB, he brings a powerful blend of academic rigour and real-world leadership.
Alistair previously served as Country Director for Google South Africa (2020–2024), where he led commercial operations and played a key role in accelerating digital adoption across the region. He worked closely with businesses, governments, and social partners to unlock growth through technology. Prior to this, he was CEO of Ogilvy South Africa and held leadership roles across major organisations including ABSA, Unilever, SAB, Tiger Brands, and Mondelēz.
Beyond business, he is deeply committed to education and social impact. In 2024, he launched the Alistair Mokoena Education Fund to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. He also serves on multiple boards and contributes to leadership development across the continent.
