DJ Njelic has earned his place in South Africa’s Amapiano movement through a sound that balances deep, rolling rhythms with melodic hooks and a distinctive vocal presence. Born Tshwarelo Motlhako and raised in Soweto, he developed his craft behind the decks from an early age, gaining firsthand experience of the music and township culture that would shape his artistic direction. Over time, he evolved into a multifaceted talent, bringing together DJing, music production, and vocals to create a style that resonates with audiences well beyond the dancefloor.

His career reached a major turning point in 2019 with Shesha Geza, his collaboration with De Mthuda, which helped bring his name to a wider audience. He followed this momentum with Wamuhle, alongside Boohle, showcasing a more soulful side of his artistry. These releases helped establish Njelic as a recognisable contributor to Amapiano’s growing popularity, with a musical approach that connects infectious rhythms to memorable melodies and expressive vocals.

Behind the decks, Njelic understands how to build an atmosphere and sustain a crowd’s energy. His sets draw on the layered percussion, rolling basslines, and captivating grooves that define Amapiano, creating a sound that feels rooted in South African musical culture while appealing to diverse audiences. As the genre continues to reach new listeners internationally, his work reflects the creativity and evolution that have made Amapiano a major force in contemporary dance music.

For event organisers, Njelic offers an established name in the genre and a sound well suited to high-energy occasions. From festival stages and club nights to corporate celebrations and large-scale entertainment events, his performances bring rhythm, movement, and a distinctly South African musical identity to the programme. As a DJ, producer, and vocalist, he continues to build on his experience with the ambition to take his sound further and connect with audiences wherever the music takes him.
