Pieter Geldenhuys is a globally respected futurist and technology strategist who helps organisations navigate through disruption and make confident, future-ready decisions. He is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Technology Strategy and Innovation (ITSI), advising boards, CEOs, and leadership teams on emerging technologies, AI, and innovation strategy. With a background in engineering, an MBA in Technology Strategy, and extensive academic and corporate experience, Pieter is a sought-after keynote speaker known for turning complex futures into clear, actionable insight.

An Electronic Engineer with an MBA in Technology Strategy, Pieter blends rigorous technical understanding with real-world strategic application. He is currently completing his Doctoral research at the DaVinci Business School, exploring how Complex Adaptive Systems thinking can improve the adoption of new technologies at organisational and national scale.
Pieter is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Technology Strategy and Innovation (ITSI). Through ITSI, he has guided over 150 innovation initiatives within major technology-driven organisations and assisted in the development of more than 5,000 leaders and professionals across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. His work focuses on translating emerging technologies into strategic advantage—particularly in environments facing disruption, uncertainty, and accelerated change.
Highly respected in academic and policy circles, Pieter has taught and lectured for more than 20 years, including engagements with London Business School, Cambridge University, Cornell, and Columbia University. He has created ten university-accredited programmes in Technology Strategy, including flagship AI, Fintech, and Telecommunications Masterclasses.
His advisory roles have included serving as Technology Strategy Advisor to the CEO of Vodacom, Vice-Chair of the Innovation Focus Group at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, and as a member of South Africa’s NACI Advisory Board, contributing to national AI policy development. He is also a nominated member of the South African Academy of Science and Arts.
As a keynote speaker, Pieter has delivered 2,500+ talks across more than 30 countries, supported by 2,000+ national radio appearances, and is the author of Headlines from the Future.
